Radio Research (Final)

These are some of the songs that we used for our radio show:

- Jingle (intro): https://youtu.be/Fs1pu8oLzS4 "Bang Bang Bang" (instrumental) by BIGBANG
I decided to use the instrumental of this song for the intro and jingle part of our radio show because I found this song to be uplifting and belong to our radio name "Double Tiger."

"Bang Bang Bang" were released in June 1, 2015 by a South Korean or K-Pop boyband named BIGBANG. This song were written by the group leader itself which is G-Dragon, one of the group member which is T.O.P and one of the most popular songwriter and composer from South Korea named Teddy Park. The composers of this song is G-Dragon and Teddy Park. "Bang Bang Bang" is one of the song from BIGBANG's album named MADE and the label for this album is YG Entertainment which is known as the music agency that made BIGBANG's debut and one of the part of BIG 3 (Top 3 biggest music agency at South Korea).

- First bed: https://youtu.be/jnhQnA-CGdY "Con La Brisa" by Foudeqush, Ludwig Goransson
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever features the song "Con La Brisa," which was created by Foudeqush and Ludwig Goransson. The producer of this song is Ludwig Goransson and this song were released in November 4, 2002.

- First song: https://youtu.be/1vl2Z4RzF4Y "Dancing In My Room" by 347aidan
347aidan is demonstrating on TikTok how approachable he is and demonstrating that the popularity of his most recent song wasn't a fluke. Without a doubt, "Dancing In My Room" has a catchy melody, and the energetic chorus is accompanied by a light drumbeat. It has an animated sound that entices listeners to get up and move around. His upbeat vocals and the steady bounces of the instrumental give "Dancing In My Room" a sensation of energy, and the song is designed such that the catchy chorus stays in the listener's head.

- Second bed: https://youtu.be/4VcUnbKgK-I "Indo Black Magic" (instrumental) by Jebung, Basboi
This song were released in 2022 with Jebung as the singer of the song. This song is included in "Indo Black Magic" album.

Radio Survey (Analysis)

Our target in the radio show are high school students from grade 10 to grade 12 as well as teachers. We target at least 20 responses from the Google form that we have created. And based on the picture above, we get the most responses from 11th graders and no response from 10th graders.

The ratio of the difference between the responses of men and women is not much different.

Pop music ranks first as the type of music most in demand by our target audience, followed by K-Pop/J-Pop afterward. We decided to follow the results of this survey for the selection of songs that we will include in our radio show.

The average audience listens to the radio in the car while traveling somewhere. And the survey results show that more than half of our audience listens to the radio. So we chose songs that are great to hear on the go and can also lift someone's spirits.

Since school events had the highest results, we decided to follow the results. In our radio broadcast later, we decided to discuss a recent, most up-to-date event or program that is currently being held by the school and express how the students involved reacted and our opinion about it.

For the news section, we decided to deliver news about the big event being held in Indonesia, namely the G20, because the event attracted the attention of many people and was being actively discussed by the public.

Since almost 90% voted for two speakers, we also chose to follow the results. It is also intended that our radio program does not sound monotonous if only one speaker appears from the beginning to the end of the session.

Critical Self-Reflection

Prezi (presentation):

How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?

We emphasize the kids in our school more in this radio broadcast. This radio program primarily targets the 11th and 12th grade Regents students at our school. In light of this, we finally performed a poll in which we sought the opinions of 11th and 12th grade Regents students on what they believe about radio broadcasts, how frequently and how much they enjoy them, as well as on what they like and dislike the most. radio program This is done in order to clearly target our audience and complete the next phase, which is to correctly produce this radio program in accordance with the interests of the people we have targeted.

According to survey results, the majority of students in grades 11 and 12 enjoy listening to K-Pop and Pop music. Some of them also enjoy listening to Hip Hop music, so we chose to use that as the basis for the concept of our radio program. The majority of them enjoy popular tunes performed by recent celebrities. The song "Hype Boy" by Newjeans was chosen for our radio show session for this reason as well because it is thought to have a fresh new color due to the development in terms of concept to the strains of the song which leans slightly towards the RnB genre so that it is considered not boring and enjoyable to listen to.

We settled on talking about what had just occurred or would soon occur at school as our topic of conversation. We concentrate on a topic that's getting a lot of attention from students right now and offer our viewpoint. Based on our prior findings, we also expressed some students' aspirations on the subjects covered. Additionally, we picked a subject that is not only being discussed and debated in the larger community surrounding us, but is also being discussed outside of the school.

In the advertising we submit, we advertise one of the canteen stalls at our school as well as the numerous foods and beverages that are offered to both students and instructors. We are more concerned with the types of food that are frequently offered as well as a few types of snacks that the school community still does not pay enough attention to.

How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed in real media text?

In particular, teens in our school of all genders are the target audience for our own radio project, which is aimed at young people. According to a poll we did, the audience's top two song genre preferences are K-Pop and Pop, thus we specifically target youngsters who enjoy listening to these genres of music. Based on survey findings and our own observations, we can also say that students at our institution are more likely to be interested in new musicians because they believe they will be able to expand their musical interests and have original ideas as opposed to K-Pop artists as a whole.

This is based on one hypothesis, the Jay Blumler and Elihu Katz “Uses and Gratifications Theory”, which takes an approach to understanding why and how people actively seek out specific media to satisfy specific needs. From that philosophy, "personal identity" and "diversion" are components that can be associated with this project because our radio show seeks to be a diversion for our audience who have had a tiring and active day by providing fascinating and currently popular topics. Music that seemed to instantly ease the audience's fatigue was being debated among the general public.

Since our school is a private institution that follows an international curriculum and employs English as the primary medium of instruction and communication with students on a daily basis, our radio program focuses more on kids in middle and high school who are from lower socioeconomic statuses. Our radio show also firmly targets the moderate to middle- and upper-class demographics due to the higher tuition costs than other institutions in Indonesia and the lifestyle of the students, particularly the kids who are more than capable.

How did your production skills develop throughout this project?

I have gradually enhanced my editing abilities thanks to this radio show endeavor, and I have gained a lot of audio editing knowledge. jingles, sound effects, and other things to begin with. Before incorporating it into the audio editing process for this project, I even did some study and tried to practice it first.

I was tentative and a little terrified when I first started this project, especially during the editing stage as that is where I fall short the most. I had even more skepticism about the project's success because I knew nothing about audio editing tools. However, as time passes, I feel better and am more knowledgeable than previously about audio editing software.

How did you integrate technologies - software, hardware and online - in this project?

I'm using a few of the phone applications I've downloaded for this radio broadcast endeavor. Pro Audio Editor, Voice Changer, and Big Button Sounds are a few of the programs. Since I trim, merge, and mix using the Pro Audio Editor application, I utilize it the majority of the time when editing. I use the Voice Changer app to make my radio jingles and the Big Button Sounds app to make audio jingles for the news segment.

Film Poster (Concept Development)

 CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT

Critical Self Reflection

The film poster that I created is a horror genre film poster.

How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?

The poster that I created is for young adults from age 15 to 27 who have an unusual hobby or interest such as ghost hunter or paranormal. This movie is for any gender and uses Indonesia as the location.

The luxury house connotes that the main character is from a rich family. However, that house looks big and dark which emphasises that the house itself is the main setting of this movie. Other than that, there are so many skulls and hand bones that try to catch the house or their direction is towards the big house. This shows that the house has many mysteries and is haunted.

How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text?

My target audience for this movie is young adults from 15 to 27 years old because at these ages, people are usually curious about something that they might find interesting even though it’s terrifying at the same time.

How did your production skill develop throughout this project?

My skills on doing in depth research and making story plots develop by doing this project.

How did you integrate technologies – software, hardware and online – in this project?

To make this poster, we used several pictures from Pinterest and did the editing in Canva by adding some elements provided by the app itself.

How Media Target Audiences?

How Audiences Consume Media?

 PASSIVE (1920s –1970s)

All messages in any medium text that is presented to the audience are accepted, and they believe them. This is the passive audience model. They don't challenge the popular reading; they accept it.

  • Hypodermic Needle Theory

A communication theory that holds that the recipient fully and directly understands and accepts the intended message.

  • Desensitisation

Occurs when a viewer is exposed to frightening or violent content repeatedly. The impact becomes numb with practice.

ACTIVE (1970s – present)

An engaged audience interacts with, interprets, and reacts to a media text in many ways and is able to question the concepts it contains.

  • Uses and Gratification Theory

  • Preferred reading – The text is read by the audience in the exact way that the author intended. Perhaps their ideologies are similar.

  • Negotiated reading – While the audience is aware of a text's meaning and implications, they may also reject some of its contents.

  • Oppositional reading – The reader disregards the text's meaning. perhaps won't read the content at all.

  • Reception Theory

  • Diversion – A way of getting away from the pressures and difficulties of daily life. Perhaps this category includes all forms of media. The purpose of media texts for audiences is to provide a respite from the daily grind. They select texts that are amusing because they help them escape from reality.

  • Personal identity – Role models and strategies to comprehend our own place in society are provided by the media. Some viewers or readers enjoy media texts because they may make comparisons between the events depicted in it and their own.

  • Social relationships:

  1. People develop close relationships with the actors they watch on television.

  2. By talking about the media with others, individuals can forge their own relationships.

  • Surveillance – The media is used by people to keep themselves informed about the world. maintaining abreast of current entertainment and fashion trends; curiosity being satisfied.

—Specific Media Product(s):

  1. Reset (novel)

  2. Big Mouth (KDrama–Viu)

  3. TREASURE (YouTube)

  4. Anna (KDrama–Viu)

  • Preferred reading: I totally agree with the scene where it shows that the main character Anna worked hard so that she could be accepted at the university she wanted. The camera work in this drama was perfect and the backsound used was also very good whereas it gives the ‘old-money’ and politician family vibes. Other than that, the wardrobe that has been used by all of the actors fits well with their character.

  • Negotiated reading: I kinda agree when Anna doesn’t really show any facial expression (giving poker face) to everyone because it’s not really necessary. However, on the other hand, I also disagree with it because in some moments, showing facial expression is important.

  • Oppositional reading: I totally disagree with the fact that Anna lied about many things until she stole her boss identity and lived with that ‘fake identity’ to get a good career and better life.

Diversion: I watch this KDrama in order to release my stress from studies.

Logo Research

These are some of the example that I might consider to use for my radio station logo. I do like the "Liberty Rock Radio" which is shown in the second picture below because the font looks good. However, I also like the "West Coast Classics" logo which is shown in the first picture since it has the rainbow illustration above the font. I also like "Radio Los Santos" logo because of the color gradation from light blue to green and yellow at last.

On the other hand, I don't really like "The Low Down 91.1" logo because it seems too simple. Furthermore, I also don't really like "JNR" logo because of the color usage and the font that been used to it.

This is the logo of an K-Pop girl group named IVE. I really like the logo because if the font used that seems very luxury. Other than that, I also like the color that been used for the logo which is silver or light grey. The creativity in the logo where as the letter E is below letter I and letter V.
